Noah Kaufmann: Color That Doesn’t Sit Still

You look at Noah Kaufmann’s work and the first thing you notice — it’s got energy. Real energy. Color, movement, a bit of attitude. Not the kind of stuff that sits politely in the background. His paintings, his objects, even the sculptures — they want to be seen.

There’s a strong pop influence in there. Bold, saturated colors. Playful forms. A little bit of chaos, but controlled. The kind of work that feels alive, like it could shift if you turned your back for a second. You get hints of humor, too — not loud, not in-your-face, but enough to keep things from taking themselves too seriously.

Now here’s the thing — that kind of work doesn’t just happen. There’s a foundation under it. Noah’s not only an artist, he’s also an interior designer, and woodworker by training. So he understands materials, structure, how things are built from the ground up. You see that in his work. Even when it looks spontaneous, there’s control behind it.

On a personal level, that same energy is immediately noticeable. The way he speaks about new projects and ideas is open, optimistic, and unforced. It’s no surprise his work feels so colorful and playful — it reflects the way he thinks.

And then there’s where he comes from. His father was an artist, studied in Paris — so this wasn’t some late decision or a side path. Creativity was always around. You get the sense that he grew into it naturally, but also that he put in the hours to make it his own.

What’s interesting is how all of that comes together. The craft, the design background, the artistic influence — it gives his work a kind of balance. It’s expressive, sure, but it doesn’t fall apart. The colors hit, the compositions hold, and the objects have a physical presence that makes sense.

Spend a little time with his pieces and they start to pull you in. There’s always something happening — layers, details, small tensions between shapes and colors. It’s not static. It keeps your attention.

And honestly, that’s the point. This isn’t background art. It’s the kind of work you build a room around.
